PCI stands for Payment Card Industry and is a regulation requiring companies to adhere to security standards created to protect card information pertaining to financial transactions. According to the PCI Standdards Council, in order to be PCI compalint a company must meet the following six requirements.

1. Build and maintain a secure network
2. Protect cardholder data
3. Maintain a vulnerability management program
4. Implement strong access control measures
5. Regularly monitor and test networks
6. Maintain an information security policy
